Löffler Collection

The Löffler Collection in Reichenschwand near Nuremberg brings together more than 3,600 authentic individual chairs from 3 centuries, which the collector Werner Löffler has been collecting since 1987.

The selection criteria are the best usability and material suitability, high workmanship quality, innovative properties and formal and aesthetic standards. The prerequisite for all collection items is that, at the time of their creation, they document the efforts of their designers to productively address a design problem and produce independent solutions.

The Löffler Collection is curated by three curators. The primary focus of their work is on the maintenance and organization of the objects, their substantial development, and the scientific research of the collection. Each object is regarded as an individual personality, offering insight into the cultural history of seating. Each object tells its own story about its origin, provenance, manufacturing, and design. The search for traces is a crucial element that continually shapes and accompanies the curators' work. Some of these handpicked antiques are available for purchase in our shop.
